Syracuse has been one of the faster-growing towns in the county, so much of its housing is newer, with larger two- and three-car garages and, increasingly, deep RV bays. Newer slabs are generally sound, but they still benefit from a full grind-and-coat rather than a topical sealer if the goal is a floor that resists staining and holds up.
The city sits at the mouth of the Antelope Island Causeway, and the open ground toward the lake means wind, dust, and fine grit that finds its way into garages. A coated floor is far simpler to sweep and wash than bare concrete, which holds that grit in its pores.
As elsewhere along the Wasatch Front, winter road salt and freeze/thaw are the main concerns for garage and driveway slabs, while covered patios do better under a UV-stable polyaspartic that won't yellow in the summer sun. Newly poured slabs on recent builds need to cure before we coat them, which is worth planning around on a new home.
